What is a card of the day?
The card of the day is the simplest and at the same time most beautiful exercise in card reading: in the morning, you draw one single card from the 36 Lenormand cards and take it with you as a companion through the day. It doesn't answer any great question of fate – it sets a tone. A Rider announces news and encounters, the Clover a small moment of luck, the Heart a day on which feelings set the rhythm.
Britta Kienle has recommended the card of the day for decades as the first step for beginners: if you draw one card every day and briefly look back in the evening at what became noticeable of it, you learn the 36 meanings along the way – without memorising, without pressure. After a month, you'll know more cards than you think.
How to interpret your card of the day
Don't take the card as a command, but as a direction of view. Three questions help: What is the card drawing my attention to? – Where in my day might I encounter this? – What would have been a good sign of it by this evening? Positive cards like the Sun, Clover or Stars give you a tailwind. More serious cards like the Clouds, Mountain or Whip are not a threat – they show where mindfulness does you good: clearing up a misunderstanding, not forcing an obstacle today, steering clear of an argument.
All 36 cards at a glance
Every card has its own detailed page in the Lenormand lexicon with Britta's interpretation for love, career and health and the most important combinations – for looking up after you draw.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I draw a Lenormand card of the day?
Shuffle the 36 cards, draw a single card face down and interpret it as the keynote for your day. On this page it also works digitally: press the button, look at the card, and read its interpretation in the lexicon.
Is the card of the day here really free?
Yes – no sign-up, no cost, as often as you like. The card comes from Britta's own Lenormand deck.
What do I do if I draw a "bad" card?
In Lenormand, there is no card that brings misfortune. Serious cards like the Clouds or the Mountain only show where patience or a clarifying word will do you good today. Read as a hint, these are precisely the most useful cards.
Can I draw more than once a day?
You can – but the exercise works best with one card per day. One card, one thought, a brief look back in the evening: that's how you learn the meanings lastingly.
